Three options available

1. White tulip mug, including the teddy bear and storybook.

2. Multicolor green hourglass mug, including teddy bear and storybook.

3. Tree bark mug, including teddy bear and storybook.

Each mug is individually crafted, altered and painted by hand. Each mug will differ slightly and will not be exactly the same. Actual item may vary from depicted photograph.

Pottery Calgary - The Potter's House

The Potters House by Rylee is a unique fully functional studio and gift shop run by Rylee Petkau. It started in 2011 in the Calgary area, nestled in the growing town of Airdrie, when she was able to focus more on her love of pottery and start a small studio. With a gift for turning mud into functional art and her desire to share the joy of creating pottery, Rylee began teaching and sharing her huge appreciation for art and nature. Creating both on and off the wheel she forms mugs, bowls platters and vessels that are artistic in design and useful in function. Outgrowing her small studio she moved her way up to the current location. The quaint country pottery studio offers a peaceful and quiet atmosphere for a variety of pottery workshops.

From beginner wheel throwing courses and hand building events for large groups, to birthday parties and a variety of memberships. Wether your a school, kids group, company or organization, they offer a variety of classes and events both on site and at your location, Its not your average studio! If your looking for patient instruction, gentle encouragement, a friendly environment where students feel comfortable, and free to explore the many different aspects of working with clay, you’ve found it! It’s a place where your free to try, fail, try again, laugh, make friends, succeed and rejoice!

In each course you are the artist, the creator and you are the magician who turns mud into art! After your pieces are created and left to dry, they go in for their first firing! Once fired, the creating continues. You will learn about finishing your pieces with a variety of glaze, application techniques. Then, in for the final firing they go. This is where the magic happens! The glaze is cured to your creations and once cooled, ready for you to take home.

We also offer pottery sampling’s!

Our popular monthly Wine & Designs are a great way to get your friends together and your hands in some clay! This fun handbuilding event walks you through the step-by-step process in creating that months project. It includes all the materials and the glaze finish, dipped by the instructor.

If you’re looking for something a little more personalized, we offer events, workshops and parties for small group and private events. With a large selection of options and projects we can fine tune it to accommodate your needs!

Our gallery/shop carries a large variety of handcrafted pottery, done both on and off the wheel. Feel free to pop in and check out the large selectionof artisan handcrafted unique items. We also offer custom designs created to fit your needs. Whether it be for your own personal use, gifts for weddings and special occasions or company merch, Rylee is alway happy to take your application and discuss design possibilities with you! She has created large orders for companies and groups like

Torchlight Theater, KFC Farms, The Conservative Party of Canada, Balzac Craft Brewing Company and numerous others. She also enjoys the smaller more intimate request, and has created special custom gifts from a husband to a wife, wedding presents, birthday presents, memorial pieces and many other unique gift ideas!

Questions you might have…

“I’ve always wanted to try the pottery wheel, can I just come try it?”

Sure, you can either take our 5 week course and learn all about it! Or take a 1-2 hr workshop with a few of your friends or tack it on to the handbuilding class.

“Do you offer events for birthday party’s?”

We sure do! It can be put together for any age! For groups of 4-14 people on site and larger groups at your location.

“I’d like to have my name or saying put on a mug, can you do that?”

Yes I can! I could even put a guitar on it or a photo of your wedding! Or how about make it feel like your drinking from a tree stump! If you can think it, I just might be able to do it!!

“Our school would like to teach the kids a little bit about Pottery is that something you can come and do?”

I’d be happy to! I’ve worked with classes/ groups as large as 52 people. You can do an Artist in Residency for your whole school…..AND we offer discounts for more than one class per day in your school or organization.
